Third PCP Academic Forum of the 2018/2019 year!
We had three speakers: 1) Rosie Burd, a 3rd year PCP student, who discussed a case she had attended, which covered the clinical side of the case as well as an overall reflection of the case. Alongside her, Sean Harris, PCP Lead Paramedic spoke more about what was involved on scene but also working in cramped conditions, which may be required in a major traumatic event. 2) Dr Halden Hutchinson-Bazely, a RAF anesthetics trainee, pre-hospital doctor with LIVES and course director of the ATACC. His talk was based on life threatening injuries for example blunt force trauma with an aspect on decision making skills required and process of extrication. 3) Final talk was from Graham Chalk, a HEMS paramedic, who walked us through the crucial decisions made by HEMS Paramedics in the LAS control room, as they decide who to send the air ambulance and its advanced trauma team to.
