The SSC runs from 2nd year to 5th year however applications are done at the end of 1st year at Barts. Both first year MBBS and first year GEP students are welcome to apply to join. Students on the PCP receive full training for the remaining four years (three years for GEPs) of their time at medical school, and go out on shift with their paramedic and doctor mentors.

The application process is now open - deadline for the written application is the 13th of March at 9pm.

We recommend attending as many of our academic forums as possible to learn more about the programme prior to applying. Certificates are supplied at the end of each forum and attendance is taken into consideration when applying for the SSC.

If you have any questions about the programme please email: pcpcommunicationsofficer@gmail.com.

Many qualified paramedics attend our monthly academic forums and find they are able to offer their own viewpoints and experiences during our case presentations, as well as coming away having learnt something new during the teaching sessions. If you are interested in becoming a mentor for the medical students on the programme please email: craigcassidy@nhs.net
Student Paramedics and Medical Students from other universities are also welcome at our academic forums, however are unable to join the programme as a whole as it forms part of the degree award from Barts and The London. If you are interested in coming to the events please follow our facebook page to register your interest or email: pcpcommunicationsofficer@gmail.com.

Disclaimer

The Prehospital Care Programme is a Student Selected Component (SSC) run through Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. The Academic Forums are primarily aimed at medical students. While other HCP are welcome, they should practice within their own clinical guidelines.
